Every project is approached with long term value, reliability and local impact in mind.
Fossil fuel generation is decreasing, while renewable energy continues to accelerate.
Solar Seed Co-op is a not for profit society dedicated to help small organisations and businesses transition to renewable energy, especially those who want to go greener but struggle with upfront funding.
If you have a large roof, high electricity use and own the building, your site could be ideal for solar – with no front cost
Solar energy reduces reliance on fossil fuels and helps organisations meet net zero targets in a practical and affordable way.

We hope you share our vision of accelerating the UK’s transition to clean, low carbon energy.
Solar Seed co-op funds, owns and maintains the solar panels installed on your building, and you simply buy the clean electricity they generate at a lower, fixed price than grid power.
We know that moving to solar, joining a cooperative, or investing in community energy can raise lots of questions. Our aim is to make community solar simple, transparent and accessible. If you can’t find what you’re looking for here, our team would be very happy to talk things through with you.
Solar Seed co-op is a not for profit, member owned co-operative that helps community organisations and small businesses install solar energy without upfront capital, while allowing members to invest in local clean energy.
We support schools, charities, social enterprises, nurseries and care homes that own their buildings and have suitable roofs and electricity usage.
Solar Seed co-op installs and owns the solar system, and the site occupier buys the electricity it generates at a discounted, long-term rate, usually cheaper than grid electricity.
Members can buy shares from £100 up to £100,000, helping fund solar installations and community energy projects.
We aim to pay a fair annual interest rate, typically Bank of England base rate + 2%. Members can choose to receive interest payments or reinvest them to help build more solar projects faster.
All investment carry risk. However, Solar Seed uses conservative financial modelling, long term energy contracts, and proven technology to reduce risk as much as possible.
After paying operating costs and fair member interest, any surplus is reinvested into building more solar for communities.
Yes, incorporated organisations such as charities, co-ops, SMEs and social enterprises can join as Incorporated Members.
